Developer Pheonix Labs has announced that all existing accounts for a free multiplayer monster hunter will be transferred to the Epic Games Store later this year, and that all players will request Epic login to continue playing after the move.
According to the most common questions about Phoenix Labs, Dauntless account migration will start "as soon as possible", and after the process is over, the current starter will be withdrawn. Players who do not currently have an account for Epic Games will first need to be included in the migration process when their useless accounts seem to be automatically converted. Those who will, however, need to link their Dauntless and Epic accounts manually closer to launching through the official website of the game.
As Phoenix Labs explains, current player progress, friend lists, guilds and platinum (meaningless currency in the game) should be transferred and integrated into Epic's account infrastructure. However, those players who would prefer to avoid the Epic Games Store are unlucky. The developer writes that "Your account migration is the only way to make sure that all your Dauntless advances are over after we launch the console and store Epic Games."
While in the last couple of months, Epic has aggressively and controversially found clues about securing numerous exclusive movies for the new sales salon – including Ashen, The Division 2 and Metro Exodus – it seems that the insignificant transition is something else. In its statement on the upcoming migration of the account, Phoenix Labs announced its desire to implement cross-play between PCs, PS4 and Xbox One as a key factor in the move. This follows from Epic's announcement last year that its cross-platform infrastructure, originally created for Fortneet, will be free for all developers.
Dauntless is currently expected to officially launch Epic Games Store, PS4 and Xbox One in April this year. Mobile and switch versions are being announced before the end of the year.
