Black Ops 4 & # 39; Blackout Beta shows that Treyarch knows how to fight Royale

The Blackout beta on PS4, Xbox One and PC has been a resounding success so far. Better still, the game's main developer, Treyarch, was incredibly good at communicating with the community and responding to player feedback.

Some of these feedbacks have been addressed in the updates. For example, it was really hard to collect things on the first day of the beta. Just taking a gun or bullets or a medpack from the ground was a chore. You had to keep it pressed for too long and you had to look directly at the object. The problem was solved the next day, making the game much smoother during the night.

In addition to this, Treyarch published daily updates on & nbsp;Black Ops 4 & nbsp;subreddit. These updates included both the short-term beta fixes and the issues that Treyarch is keeping watch for. For example, the developer replied to the players who said that the sound seemed dimmed with this:

We have discovered and are fixing a critical bug in which a player's environment does not properly affect playing sounds. This is why, for example, someone directly above or below the player can sound much stronger than expected. When the game is released, the steps will be properly influenced by walls, floors, ceilings and other objects in the world.

Another big problem that the community is sorry for is the team that kills. The friendly fire is always on in Duos and Quad (I would like them to say Squadre instead of using a muscle, but oh well) and this means that players can kill teammates and steal loot. This is a cowardly, unforgivable thing to do, but it happens and the players will do it despite the risk of being reported and banned. So the players have suggested that the sacking of the team should be off the table if a player is shot down by a friendly fire, to which Treyarch replied:

One of the most advanced demands is the prevention that the members of the working group loot the bodies of the teammates they killed. In addition to reporting incorrect behavior through the "Report Player" function in the Social menu (and continuing to prohibit players from intentionally killing a group), we agree with this approach and we are adding this, or something similar to our "To Do" list. We have a zero tolerance policy for intentional teamkillers. Be sure to report them so you can take down the banhammer.

Treyarch was so good at communicating every little detail that I can not summarize here. Future corrections / corrections include everything from the collapse velocity of the outer circle; wingsuit vs speed of the helicopter; penetration of projectiles; Merits / leveling system and much more.

Perhaps most importantly, Treyarch is listening to the feedback on the armor. They're adding an Armor health bar at launch, but they're also listening to feedback on how Armor is too powerful. We'll see if they make changes, even if they generally agree with the overwhelming majority of Blackout players that Armor — especially Level 3 Armor – is too OP.

I like the concept of Armor, but I would make the current Level 1 Armor the strongest and be Level 3, so have two levels of armor below that. I understand that we do not want the TTK to be as low as a normal game, but it can be incredibly high. Too high when you're shooting someone with Level 3 Armor and they will not die.

In any case, all this stellar communication and all these quick solutions really give me confidence in Treyarch's ability to conduct a great battle game for years in the future. The community has suggested additions to the map — the cargo freighter diverted off the coast; the snow-covered summit emerges in the mountains; the beloved zombie map, & nbsp; Nacht der Untoten — and I would not be surprised to see them in future updates. The Blackout map is very large and could easily use multiple landmarks and named locations.

In addition to corrections and communications, Treyarch has already added two different temporary modes to Blackout. Fast Collapse was a team-based mode that did exactly that: it collapsed the circle much faster, accelerating games and making it all a bit more hectic. Close Quarters was a solo mode that abandoned all long-range weapons, leaving pump guns, SMGs and other short-range arsenals as the only option. This kind of time-limited implementation is something that makes & nbsp;Fortnite & nbsp;so attractive, and it's a smart idea for Blackout.

Oh, and one other thing. A complaint that I think needs to be addressed. The edge of the map has an arbitrary border. Yesterday, while I was playing, the circle collapsed in a region in the hills near Asylum and the dam, but almost half of that circle was outside the playing area. If you came across that part of the circle, the screen turned red and warned you to return to the designated area. There was no visual indicator besides what I was off-screen. This must go away. If you can reach it on the map, it should be in-bounds. If you want a boundary, put some rock or a throat or some other obstacle there rather than throw a warning to the players.

Apart from these complaints, I can safely report that the Blackout beta is a lot of fun. It's a really fluid and exciting battle royale that does everything except in & nbsp;PUBG & nbsp;obsolete. I think it will do very well on consoles and PCs and while I'm still sad about the lack of single player campaign in & nbsp;Black Ops 4 & nbsp;(Please add this down the street, Treyarch!) I think there will be a lot to do to keep us engaged in the complete game between Blackout, MP and the zombies.
