How can I update Office?

If you're trying to update Office and get the latest version, you have several options depending on the version of Office you already have. See the following sections for what corresponds to the Office license:

Office as a one-off purchase (2016, 2013 or previous)

Office 365 for home subscriptions

Office 365 for business subscriptions

Office as a one-off purchase (2016, 2013 or previous)

If you have a one-time purchase of Office, you do not receive an automatic update. The 365 purchasing department is the best choice. You'll always have the latest features, security updates and bug fixes, plus you'll have OneDrive storage and Office cloud capabilities to maximize productivity. You can choose between Office 365 Personal (for one person) or Office 365 Home (for up to six people).

Another option is to purchase Office 2019 as a one-off license. This can be installed on only one device and, while you will receive updates and security fixes, you will not receive new features.

If you have an Office 365 work or school account, you'll always have the latest version as long as you keep Office up-to-date. If you do not see new features, you may not have received the update yet, or your Office 365 administrator may limit updates to Office that you receive until you have the opportunity to test these features with other programs used by your organization.
