  1. I read this as metal FILLINGS, as in, teeth.

My thought was OP was some strange torture dentist ripping fillings out with magnets..

  2. r/machinists would like a word about austenitic steels and nonferrous metals. Anyone who’s had aluminium splinters in their skin will wish magnets would work on it.

  3. This is actually really useful. Thanks!

  4. Keep filings throughout the years, eventually make a bitchin sword.

  5. Twice I’ve had a tiny piece of metal in my eye. I wrap a magnet with a clean paper towel and hold near my eye. Both times the magnet pulled the metal out.

  6. My drilling/grinding area will now have a spot for a magnet and bags – good stuff!

  7. Try it with aluminum filings, then go get the vacuum cleaner.

  8. Also great for small hardware provided it’s magnetic.

  9. I just use the magnet on my level

  10. Now show me how to get all the filings off the magnet before I remove it from the bag.

  11. To pick up metal filings, I’d use this line. “Hey Baby! You are so Metal that I’m attracted to you like a magnet! Can I pick you up?”

  12. Or you could just be more practical and use a broom.

  13. I do the same thing with dog shit but without a magnet.

  14. Also works great with a condom

  15. A load of guys at my knife throwing club use an extending magnet to pick up knives that miss the target

  16. Can i use a paper bag instead because plastic?
