How to create a bar chart with D3.js



Bar charts are one of the most effective ways to transmit quantitative data, be it population size, GDP or life expectancy. However, while they are excellent for comparing values, they do not actually transmit the dimension of values.

For example, if a bar represents a population of 5 million people or just a small group of people is still just a rectangle. There is no indication (in addition to the y axis) that a bar represents 10, 100, 1000 or 10,000 individual items.

To solve this problem, you can divide a bar into smaller cells.
