What do you do when you do not want God? In this lab, John Piper explains where we can turn when our joy is gone.
Some questions to ask while reading and studying:
- How do you strive to love God with all your heart when you lack love for him?
- Look at the lab. What is the relationship between the love of God for us and our love for God?
- What are the habits (in addition to the daily time in the word and in prayer) can you start feeding your love for God? Choose one and be sure to reserve the time this week for this.

Principle for reading the Bible
Turn the study of the Bible into prayer
We all need to be reminded from time to time that the Bible is not a text to be simply dissected, analyzed and extracted for new insights. God has cut us through his word: "The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates into the division of the soul and spirit, joints and marrow and discerns thoughts and the intentions of the heart "(Hebrews 4:12).
Therefore, our Bible study must be inseparable from prayer. Our engagement with a text is not complete when we understand the passage. Pray to the word of God. Pray the prayers inspired by the word of God. Pray that God will change you with his word.
