Although it takes a bit of effort, we can admit that there is something truly satisfying in a perfectly combined bed. Even spending that extra minute in the morning to make it less scruffy can elevate the scene in your bedroom. But today we want to go a step further with levels, details and plots! It's a simple formula that professionals use to make that bed perfectly fit, with perfectly positioned cushions and expertly folded hooks, and today we share it! Here's how you can capture the bed of your dreams:
Start with a solid foundation
As a general rule, let's say that we buy the best you can afford! We spend a third of our life in our beds, so an excellent mattress, frame and set of sheets are worth the investment. When it comes to sheets, professionals usually choose white – because it is classic, of course – but also because it provides a place where the eye can rest once it starts to overlap with colors, prints and patterns.
Make the top sheet
Make sure to put the flat sheet on the back (the finished side down) so that the softness envelops you when you get into bed. Furthermore, the finished side will be exposed when the back of the fascia is folded. Have you ever wondered how to create those perfect corners of the hospital? Regardless of the period of the year, adding layers is the key to having a bed in style that looks inviting and comfortable. Choose neutral colors and cozy textures, or play with patterns and colors to create depth and contrast. Put a light cotton bedspread or quilt over the sheets followed by the quilt. A fast bed that does the trick: fold the duvet in half and then return the upper part in the third so you can show all your cushions and layers. If it's winter, sleep under the duvet and use the quilt as an accent. In warmer months, place the duvet at the foot of the bed or replace it with a lighter one.
Play the pillow game
First of all, the easy part: combine the biggest duvets with the duvet and put the ones behind your day-day cushions (which match your set of sheets). They tend to be larger and fill the space closest to the headboard. However, you can also stack them for a more modern look. When it comes to accent cushions there is not a perfect number. Ultimately, it's what you're willing to move every night! We tend to gravitate up to 3 – you can make 3 completely different cushions, 2 that fit in size and color with 1 smaller front or, again, long lumbar.
Add the finishing touch (s)
Those final touches that bring the whole bed together? Well, a folded throw at the foot of the bed is a good start (or it can be randomly draped along the side). It will really help to combine the combination of colors or, at the very least, add a beautiful texture. So put a little energy in the cleaning and styling of your bedside tables. Stack some books, put a framed picture or update your lighting. Even some small accessories can help create that elegant bed space!
