The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the monitoring components, prepare and respond quickly to possible outbreaks of measles.
Among the tasks that will be taken immediately, health authorities have pointed out, is preparing a contingency plan that is currently in the validation phase, which will enable the country to provide an effective response to diagnostic criteria and suspected pathology.
Likewise, rapid action teams have been formed in different regions of the country, as well as a quick national response.
Fabiana Michel, PAHO / WHO International Immunization Adviser, said that these teams were already prepared at a national workshop that was recently trained within a national workshop.
Michel stressed they are ready to offer a prompt and timely response to the imported case.
He also mentioned the anticipated purchase of reagents and other necessary supplies, in case they would be needed as accurate forecasts of the state health care portfolio.
Soraya Araya, Director of the Extended Immunization Program (PAI), reminded that there were no measles in Paraguay since 1998; On the other hand, neighboring countries report the disease.
