"Unfortunately, an individual in the Lowcountry region died of complications due to a flu," said Dr. Lilian Peake, director of DHEC Public Health. "This is our first laboratory test, a season-related death. Unfortunately, in South Carolina every year we see many deaths, hospitalizations and other serious complications of the flu."
